English Launch Post Draft¶
Recommended Title¶
Building a local-first AI agent runtime with persistent memory, governed repo tasks, and Git-native reviewability
Recommended Subtitle¶
Skylattice is an open-source runtime for people who want an agent they can inspect like software instead of trusting hidden autonomy.
Publishable Draft¶
Most AI agent projects optimize for breadth, speed, or workflow convenience. Skylattice started from a different question: what if an agent had to keep durable memory, act through explicit governance, and evolve through reviewable Git changes instead of hidden behavior drift?
That question shaped the whole project. Skylattice is a local-first AI agent runtime that keeps private runtime state under .local/, keeps durable behavior in tracked docs, configs, prompts, ADRs, and tests, and keeps meaningful repo changes behind approval and validation boundaries.
The project is still early, but it now has a stable public baseline. You can verify it without API keys, inspect public-safe task and radar outputs, and read a canonical release page before trusting it with real work. That matters because many agent repos feel interesting before you clone them and ambiguous after you do. Skylattice is trying to do the opposite: make the system legible before and after first contact.
Today the repository already demonstrates three useful things:
- a local-first runtime with durable memory and visible inspection surfaces
- governed repo tasks with deterministic text-edit payloads and tracked validation commands
- a bounded technology-radar path for learning from GitHub without widening self-modification silently
Skylattice is not a hosted assistant product and it is not a broad agent framework competing on maximum tool count. It is a narrower reference runtime for people who care about persistent memory, auditable behavior, rollbackable Git paths, and explicit operator boundaries.
If you care about local-first agent infrastructure, auditable agent behavior, or Git-native automation boundaries, Skylattice may be worth a look even if you are not ready to use it today.

Short Abstract Version¶
Skylattice is an open-source local-first AI agent runtime for builders who want persistent memory, governed repo tasks, and Git-native reviewability instead of hidden autonomy. It includes a no-credential verification path, proof artifacts, and a stable public release surface.
